The configuration of home entertainment devices is usualy done through a menu driven user interface. This requires the ability to read an on-screen-display. This task is not possible for the blind or partialy sighted user.
On this page i have collected some links to software tools providing the ability to configure these devices from Your computer or make them accessible by exchanging the firmware. I have tested most of the products. They should work with every ScreenReader software.

There are a number of Apps available for controling Linux based set-top-boxes. You can find them on Apple's AppStore or Google Playstore. These apps allow a blind person who cannot access on-screen menus to control these receivers.
